Description

This work was produced as part of my LSAD degree portfolio with a political message at its heart rather than pure aesthetic value, as I’m sure you will have noticed. To my mind this excludes it from mainstream displaying as such but may have a resonance with a business or public interest.

The theme of the work was the microscopic focus on irrelevant parts of our own body in our privileged society in the ‘developed’ world as a distraction from the woes and horrors of our fellow man elsewhere on this planet of ours.

Most of the works here reflect this tendency to consume more and more whilst signing up to this global delusion that we are doing all we can to help out the people who have nothing. The sum total of 0.5% of GDP  was given as foreign aid on our behalf by the Irish Government towards people who have no water, no shelter, no food and no hope and we pat ourselves on the back.
